Description Of Work: She helped me prepare for a downsizing move; conducted an "estate" sale, after I had moved out; then arranged to donate or haul away all remaining items, leaving the house broom clean and ready for closing (the house was already under contract).
Member Comments: Laurie is personable, professional and efficient. This was a downsizing move from the home that I shared for 22 years with my late husband, so it was logistically and emotionally difficult. Laurie spent two days before my move helping me to tackle the hardest areas of the house and to sort and pack up books, records, photographs etc. Throughout the period leading up to the move, she answered questions and provided advice. Most important, once I moved out, she took control, organizing and conducting a sale, donating clothing and other unsold items to appropriate charities, clearing out all trash and leaving the house ready for closing - all in a very compressed period of time. She was completely reliable - showing up when she said she would , and accomplishing what she promised in the required timeframe. Quite simply, I could not have managed this move without Laurie's help.
Laurie's business is demanding and requires super efficiency. So it is my impression that she would not have a lot of time for warm and fuzzy hand-holding, if that is what you want. But she provides excellent service, efficiently and professionally. I would definitely recommend her to a friend.

Description Of Work: She was excellent in arranging the execution of the estate sale from staging every item to sweeping out the house when the sale was over. It is a turnkey solution if you don't have the time or expertise, which I did not. She suggested best practices in how to achieve the highest profit possible which was of utmost importance in continuing to provide additional financial security for the the person who owns the estate.
Member Comments: She thought of every possible way to encourage traffic at the sale from paying for meter parking spaces for the weekend to previewing pictures of items on line and in social media outlets. Great ability to promote special items with prospective buyers in mind. Arranges the final clearing of any remaining items for charity donations. Terrific service and attention to detail, would recommend her services to anyone needing to handle someone's estate sale.

Description Of Work: Manage all aspects of my downsizing--from pricing items for sale (tough as many antiques but done very well), running the sale (all aspects from pre-event advertising to day of sale services), and clean up.
Member Comments: WOW is all I can say... but let me provide more. Absolutely fantastic. I had been dreading this but the care and concern for me by Laurie and her team were fantastic. My wife had just passed and it was an emotional period for me. Laurie was like a family member in her concern for not only doing the sale in my best interests, but also for my emotions during this challenging period.

Description Of Work: Conducted Estate Sale. This included the sale of house hold goods, disposal of unsold/unsaleable items, and clean-up after the sale.
Member Comments: I hired Mission Transition to handle an estate sale at my parent's large home of 40+ years in Fairfax County. I interviewed five companies and chose Mission Transition - and am very glad that I did. They handled everything from start to finish; staging, pricing, advertising, sales, disposal, clean-up. The sale was very successful, we got rid of nearly everything and Mission Transition brought in more money than I anticipated. Their promotions were on target, with a steady stream of buyers. The team was very hard-working; they even added an extra day to the sale, since the Monday after the sale was a federal holiday. What a relief for me to have this stressful job handled competently. I would say this was a job well done.

The name of the company is Mission Transition, run by Laurie Zook (301 332-5585). They were very diligent in going through all of the belongings, after which they will sell/auction items of value; donate items of little or no value (providing tax receipts) and trashing the items that needed to go into the trash. The rates were very reasonable, and Laurie seemed to genuinely care and recognize the importance of these belongings, not for their financial value but rather that they represented a lifetime's worth of memories accumulated by the ward over the years. I would strongly recommend her if ever in need of those services.
